Transocean Ordered To Produce Docs From BP Spill Probe

Law360, New York (September 2, 2011, 2:01 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Thursday ordered Transocean Ltd. to turn over hundreds of documents related to its investigation of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that BP PLC claimed the company unfairly withheld in multidistrict litigation over the disaster.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan ruled that Transocean waived work-product protection over many of the documents by publishing the results of the probe, allowing other parties to use the findings offensively in court.
