Ind. Lawmaker Wants $5M Cap Raised For Fair Victims

Law360, New York (September 2, 2011, 6:51 PM EDT) -- An Indiana state legislator said Thursday that he hoped to raise the state's $5 million liability cap in order to give more compensation to the victims of a stage collapse last month at the Indiana State Fair.

Rep. Ed DeLaney, a Democrat, told the Indianapolis Star that the cap was not enough to fairly compensate all of the victims and their families. Seven people were killed and more than 40 were injured, some seriously, when the stage collapsed in high winds Aug. 13.
