Nurse Breached Patients' Info At Canadian Hospital

Law360, New York (September 7, 2011, 2:24 PM EDT) -- A Canadian hospital announced Tuesday that a former employee had breached the personal information of 5,800 patients over a six-year span, improperly accessing diagnoses, test results and prescriptions.

From 2004 to 2010, a former nurse at the North Bay Regional Health Center, a hospital and mental health center located in northeastern Ontario, accessed the data of patients who were not in her circle of care in violation of Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act, the hospital said.
