MichCon Challenges Ford's $11M Cleanup Deal With US

Law360, New York (September 9, 2011, 5:47 PM EDT) -- Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. jumped into Ford Motor Co.'s suit against the U.S. over two contaminated sites Thursday, challenging a provision in the proposed $10.8 million settlement that it argued would improperly bar its own claims against the federal government.

The contaminated sites at issue in the Michigan federal court suit are the Rouge Complex Settlement Area, a manufacturing facility founded by Ford in 1915, and an adjacent property known as the Schaefer Road Settlement Area.
