ITC To Probe LG Over Backlight Module Patent Claims

Law360, New York (September 9, 2011, 4:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Friday it would probe a Taiwan-based research group's allegations that LG Corp. violated U.S. trade law by selling or importing devices that infringe a patent related to backlight modules used in liquid crystal displays.

The commission's vote to institute the investigation follows an Aug. 10 complaint from Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute and its U.S. arm, San Jose-based ITRI International Inc., which targeted LG, LG Electronics Inc. and LG Electronics USA Inc.
