Swedish Labor Unions Try To Force Saab Into Bankruptcy

Law360, New York (September 12, 2011, 1:13 PM EDT) -- A pair of Swedish labor unions filed bankruptcy petitions against Saab Automobile AB on Monday, asking a district court to force the ailing automaker to restructure or fold.

The unions, Unionen and Ledarna, which represent more than 1,000 workers who have not been paid for more than two weeks, said they would withdraw their petitions if a Swedish appeals court overturns a lower court's rejection of Saab's reorganization request. The automaker filed its appeal Monday.
