1st Circ. Affirms Airframe Loss In Source Code Row

Law360, New York (September 14, 2011, 7:16 PM EDT) -- The First Circuit on Wednesday upheld the dismissal of Airframe Systems Inc.'s copyright suit against L-3 Communications Corp. alleging it used copied software source code, affirming a lower court's finding that no proof showed substantial similarities between the companies' codes.

Airframe brought the suit after it discovered a former employee allegedly uploaded software source code for aircraft maintenance tracking software dubbed ARMS onto a computer that was owned by a division of Raytheon Co. called Aircraft Integration Systems, which L-3 had acquired in 2002.
