Biomedino's Blood-Cleaning Patent Found Invalid

Law360 (June 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Biotech company Biomedino LLC's patent on a method for cleaning drugs out of blood was found invalid by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Monday, on the grounds that it did not disclose the structure of a crucial valve.

“The decision was very consistent with the case law,” said Aslan Baghdadi, a partner at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, which represents the three defendants in the case.

Counsel for Biomedino declined to comment.
