Petitioners Ask White House To End Software Patents

Law360, New York (September 26, 2011, 9:03 PM EDT) -- One of the most popular petitions on the newly launched section of the White House website allowing anyone to petition the government is one that on Friday called for abolition of all software patents.

The petition was posted Friday afternoon, and as of Monday night, it had more than 11,000 signatures asking the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to stop issuing software patents and invalidate every one that has been issued to date.
