Hogan Lovells Advises Cigna On £71M FirstAssist Deal

Law360, New York (September 27, 2011, 4:23 PM EDT) -- Barclays Private Equity said Tuesday it was selling its stake in London-based FirstAssist Insurance Services Ltd., a travel insurance provider with almost 3 million policyholders in the U.K., to U.S. health insurer Cigna Corp. for £71 million ($111 million).

Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna cited the 8 percent increase in travel in Asia and Europe last year as a reason for the purchase, adding that FirstAssist's product line would expand Cigna's offerings worldwide, particularly in the U.K. The deal will close later this year, pending regulatory approval....
