Dow Strikes 1st Over Silicon Carbide Patents

Law360, New York (September 28, 2011, 6:03 PM EDT) -- A Dow Corning Corp. semiconductor unit asked a Michigan federal court on Tuesday to rule that it is not infringing three Cree Inc. patents that cover silicon carbide materials.

Dow Corning Compound Semiconductor Solutions LLC lodged a declaratory judgment suit against Cree, saying that Cree was likely to sue the company for patent infringement in response to Dow's expected rejection of a licensing deal.
