Distributor Oil Sales Fuel Sunoco Lawsuit

Law360, New York (June 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sunoco Inc. is suing a distributor for selling motor oil to gas stations which are allegedly only authorized to make purchases directly from the company.

Sunoco filed a lawsuit Tuesday in a Maryland federal court accusing Ocean Petroleum LLC of breaching its distributor agreement and interfering with dealer contracts. Sunoco is seeking to enjoin Ocean from making the allegedly illegal sales and undisclosed damages.

Sunoco claims its contract with Ocean allows the distributor to resell Sunoco-branded motor oil to retail locations approved and authorized by Sunoco....
