Trident Seafoods To Pay $2.5M Over Waste Discharges

Law360, New York (September 28, 2011, 8:16 PM EDT) -- Trident Seafoods Corp. will pay $2.5 million and implement waste control and remediation measures to resolve allegations in Washington federal court that it illegally dumped millions of pounds of seafood processing waste into Alaska waters, federal authorities said Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Justice said in its complaint, lodged along with a proposed consent decree, that Trident violated the Clean Water Act more than 480 times at 14 offshore and onshore facilities in Alaska through improper discharges into protected waters and wildlife refuges and monitoring and...
