Ex-Atty Gets 5 Years For Embezzling $1M From Clients

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 6:49 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge sentenced a former Philadelphia attorney on Friday to 60 months in prison for allegedly negotiating settlements without the knowledge of his clients and pocketing more than $1 million he embezzled from clients and the law firm where he was a named partner.

U.S. District Judge Petrese B. Tucker also ordered Jeffrey Abramowitz, 48, to pay restitution of more than $1.6 million to his victims and more than $360,000 to the Internal Revenue Service after he pleaded guilty in September to mail fraud,...
