Honeywell Prevails In Solvay Chemical Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 29, 2011, 7:04 PM EDT) -- A Solvay SA patent covering methods for making a refrigeration chemical is invalid, a Delaware federal jury ruled Thursday in a victory for Honeywell International Inc., which earlier had been found to have infringed the patent.

The jury concluded that Honeywell proved by clear and convincing evidence that Solvay's patent was invalid as obvious and anticipated in view of prior art. U.S. District Judge Judge Sue L. Robinson previously ruled that Honeywell infringed the patent, so the trial dealt only with the patent's validity.
