NLRB Judge Lets Car Dealer Off Hook For Facebook Firing

Law360, New York (September 30, 2011, 6:03 PM EDT) -- A luxury car dealership in Illinois did not run afoul of federal law when it fired a salesman over material he posted on Facebook, a National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge held Wednesday.

Judge Joel Biblowitz found that Karl Knauz Motors Inc., which does business as Knauz BMW, did not violate the National Labor Relations Act when it fired salesman Robert Becker because of a Facebook posting about a June 14 accident at a separate but adjacent Land Rover dealership also owned by Knauz.
