Supreme Court Seeks SG's Input In Debt Collection Suit

Law360, New York (October 3, 2011, 7:04 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court asked the solicitor general Monday to weigh in on a New Jersey law firm's petition seeking to overturn a ruling that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies to debt collector's communications with debtors' lawyers.

In its petition for writ of certiorari, Fein Such Kahn & Shepard PC contends the Third Circuit's decision reviving a proposed class action over its communications with a debtor's lawyer constitutes an unwarranted expansion of the FDCPA's reach.
