Suits Contend Pfizer Drug Sparks Gambling Addiction

Law360, New York (June 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The early trickle of lawsuits against Pfizer Inc. over Mirapex has turned into a steady stream, as more and more plaintiffs accuse the drug maker of failing to warn patients of the link between treatment for restless legs and a sudden, compulsive desire to gamble.

At least thirteen new suits were filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, charging Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Pfizer subsidiaries Pharmacia Corp. and Pharmacia & Upjohn with negligence regarding the dopamine-boosting drug Mirapex....
