Western Digital Aims To Appease EU On $4B Hitachi Buy

Law360, New York (October 4, 2011, 8:35 PM EDT) -- California-based Western Digital Technologies Inc. said Tuesday that it had submitted concessions to the European Union's antitrust watchdog in an effort to close an investigation into its $4.3 billion acquisition of Hitachi Ltd.'s storage technology unit.

Details of the commitments proposed by Western Digital on Monday were not released. But the deadline for a decision in the case has been extended 15 business days, from Nov. 9 to Nov. 30, a representative for the European Commission said Tuesday.
