HTC Admits Security Flaws Slipped Into Latest Software

Law360, New York (October 4, 2011, 7:03 PM EDT) -- Smartphone maker HTC Corp. acknowledged Tuesday that there were security gaps in recently installed software on most of its Android devices that could allow hackers to view users' call and text message histories, GPS locations, and other data.

Bloggers on the website Android Police exposed the flaw in a post Saturday. HTC recently created logging tools that collect such information, but it did not ensure the information would be secured, according to the blog.
