Enviros Fire Opening Shot In TransCanada Pipeline Fight

Law360, New York (October 5, 2011, 3:54 PM EDT) -- Three environmental groups fired what they called an opening salvo in a battle against the $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline, filing a suit Wednesday in Nebraska federal court accusing the government of allowing TransCanada Corp. to begin work before it receives the necessary permits.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the State Department have looked the other way while TransCanada has allegedly spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to move the endangered American burying beetle out of the pipeline's proposed path in Nebraska, according to...
