Fed. Circ. Sides With Stanley In Zircon Patent Row

Law360, New York (October 5, 2011, 9:08 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Wednesday affirmed a lower court’s decision that stud finders produced by Stanley Black & Decker Inc. did not infringe hand tool manufacturer Zircon Corp.’s patent, ruling the patent’s claims were correctly construed.

A three-judge panel affirmed a California district court’s ruling that Zircon’s patent covered a method using division to calculate ratio measurements to find a stud, rather than subtraction.
