Yahoo Taken To Court Over Online Chat Patents

Law360, New York (October 5, 2011, 2:21 PM EDT) -- Yahoo Inc. was sued Tuesday by an intellectual property licensing group that claims the Internet company infringed a set of patents for use in its Yahoo Messenger online chat service.

Pragmatus AV LLC said in Delaware federal court that by offering the Messenger service to its users, the Silicon Valley-based defendant has misused five separate patents used in arranging voice- and video-enabled teleconference calls.
