2 Indicted In Biggest Deepwater Fund Fraud To Date

Law360, New York (October 6, 2011, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Two Florida residents were accused in an indictment unsealed Thursday of carrying out the biggest fraud to date targeting the damages fund established by BP PLC in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, according to prosecutors.

Joseph Harvey, 51, and Anja Karin Kannell, 41, both of Delray Beach, Fla., appeared in U.S. Magistrate Court to answer allegations that they used 34 different fake identities to fund a life of luxury by scamming the fund out of $340,000, the biggest financial loss case brought so...
