UK Eyes $514M Lufthansa, Emirates Flight Catering Deal

Law360, New York (October 11, 2011, 5:22 PM EDT) -- The U.K. Office of Fair Trading on Monday referred a proposed joint venture between in-flight catering subsidiaries of the Emirates Group and Deutsche Lufthansa AG to the Competition Commission over concerns the £330 million ($514 million) deal could increase airline prices.

The U.K.-only joint venture, between Alpha Flight Group Ltd. and LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, proposes setting up a new company to handle the companies' current catering and in-flight services in the U.K., with the exception of Alpha's British Airways operations at London's Gatwick Airport....
