House Passes Bills Blocking EPA Coal Ash, Boiler Regs

Law360, New York (October 14, 2011, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed two bills Thursday and Friday that would block U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations designed to limit pollution from industrial boilers and coal ash.

The Republican-led House passed H.R. 2250, the EPA Regulatory Relief Act of 2011, on Thursday, blocking EPA limits on mercury and other chemicals emitted by industrial boilers, and followed up with the passage of H.R. 2273, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act, which will leave coal ash regulation to states by preventing the EPA from classifying...
