Supreme Court Rebuffs Insurer USI’s $23.6M Copyright Hit

Law360, New York (October 17, 2011, 2:58 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a case in which insurer USI MidAtlantic Inc. challenged a $23.6 million copyright verdict against it by arguing that the lower court misapplied the statute of limitations for copyright claims.

The high court's decision leaves intact a Third Circuit decision affirming a $19 million jury verdict in favor of The Graham Co. for USI's alleged infringement of its copyrights, as well as an award of more than $4.6 million in prejudgment interest.
