Court Nixes Pfizer's Bid To Toss Nigeria Suit

Law360 (June 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Nigerian court has reportedly rejected a bid by Pfizer Inc. to dismiss a $7 billion lawsuit accusing the pharmaceutical giant of carrying out illegal trials of an unapproved meningitis drug that killed or disabled children.

The Federal High Court in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja on Tuesday ruled that the suit, filed by the Nigerian government, could move forward despite arguments by Pfizer's attorneys that the case had been improperly filed, Dow Jones reported.
