DuPont Unit Targets Monsanto Over Maize Seed Patents

Law360, New York (October 18, 2011, 9:13 PM EDT) -- A DuPont Co. subsidiary sued Monsanto Co. in Ohio federal court Tuesday, accusing it of violating patents for a maize seed production technique that aims to boost the quality of the seeds.

Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., a DuPont-owned producer of hybrid seeds, alleges Monsanto willfully infringed two patents, arguing it was aware of the patents because two of the inventors of the maize seed production technique had gone on to work for Monsanto.
