DOJ, FTC Finalize Antitrust Rules For ACOs

Law360, New York (October 20, 2011, 2:14 PM EDT) -- Federal regulators largely hewed to their original proposals in antitrust guidance issued Thursday for accountable care organizations, though the final policy eliminates mandatory competition reviews for certain groups and covers even collaborations formed before the health care law took effect.

The final policy statement from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission still creates a so-called antitrust safety zone for some ACOs and lays out criteria and examples to try to help providers avoid running into trouble with competition enforcement.
