Homeowners Hit Madison-Kipp With Contamination Claims

Law360, New York (October 20, 2011, 7:59 PM EDT) -- A group of Madison, Wis., residents sued Madison-Kipp Corp. and its insurers in federal court Thursday, claiming one of the industrial equipment maker’s plants leaked carcinogens into the air, soil and groundwater surrounding their homes.

The residents allege MKC’s flagship facility in the eastern part of the city has released the known carcinogens tetrachloroethylene and trichloroethylene, as well as other substances, since at least 1967, and that the company has failed to stop the chemicals from migrating onto their property.
