Engineer's Patent Claims Engulf Chip Makers

Law360 (June 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former International Business Machines Corp. engineer who has gobbled up settlements from computer giants such as Gateway Inc., Lenovo Ltd. and his former company over patents to fix computer data errors has now set his targets on chip and computer suppliers.

Phillip M. Adams filed an infringement suit through his company against Taiwan-based computer suppliers Quanta Computer Inc. and Micro-Star International Corp. Ltd. as well as Delaware-based chip supplier National Semiconductor Corp. over six patents for data corruption detection and fixes.
