Bryson Confirmed As US Commerce Secretary

Law360, New York (October 21, 2011, 3:50 PM EDT) -- John Bryson, a former utility company executive and the co-founder of an outspoken environmental organization, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate late Thursday as secretary of commerce, putting him in charge of the department overseeing intellectual property and international trade.

The Senate voted 74-26 to approve Bryson, former chairman and CEO of Edison International, as the replacement for ex-Commerce Secretary Gary Locke. The Senate confirmed Locke as U.S. ambassador to China in July.
