EU Strengthens Animal Feed Testing Rules

Law360, Chicago (October 21, 2011, 3:40 PM EDT) -- The European Commission has voted to amp up testing requirements and other regulations for the animal feed industry as a way to prevent dioxin contaminations like the one that struck German meat and egg farms last winter, the agency announced Friday.

European Union member states in the commission's Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health endorsed the proposal, which aims to reduce the risk of food chain contamination by the cancer-causing pollutant and the financial costs that businesses and consumers face from food recalls....
