Halliburton Launches FCPA Probe Of Angolan Operations

Law360, New York (October 21, 2011, 8:48 PM EDT) -- Halliburton Co. is investigating its Angolan operations for Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations after an anonymous email tipped it off about possible corruption among its employees, the company announced Friday.

The email, sent in December 2010, alleged that actions by certain current and former personnel — mostly related to the use of an Angolan vendor — violated both the company's code of business conduct and the FCPA, Halliburton said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Committee.
