Alkermes, Jazz Aim To Block Torrent's Generic Luvox

Law360, New York (October 24, 2011, 2:53 PM EDT) -- Alkermes Pharma Ireland Ltd. and Jazz Pharmaceuticals Inc. on Friday sued Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in an effort to prevent the Indian generics maker from marketing a version of the companies' patented antidepressant drug Luvox CR.

The pharmaceutical companies sued Torrent in Delaware district court, alleging that the company's application to make and sell a generic version of Alkermes' anxiety and depression drug violates a patent held by Alkermes and licensed to Jazz.
