Kaplan Says Ex-Directors Stole Student Recruiting Data

Law360, New York (October 25, 2011, 6:58 PM EDT) -- Kaplan Inc. on Tuesday sought a temporary restraining order in a Florida suit claiming two former directors at its affiliate Kaplan University violated contracts, as well as computer fraud and trade secret laws, by stealing data about more than 750,000 prospective students.

According to a complaint filed Monday, the ex-director of quality and accreditation for Kaplan University's business and information technology school Jonathan David secretly downloaded the names of potential students along with their contact and demographic information to an external hard drive before quitting.
