Obama Rewards African Reforms With Trade Preferences

Law360, New York (October 25, 2011, 5:55 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday returned privileged trade partner benefits to a trio of African nations in response to the significant progress they have demonstrated in making democratic improvements to their governments.

Ivory Coast, Guinea and Niger each regained their privileged trade partner status under the African Growth and Opportunity Act as a response to free and fair presidential elections in the last year, the U.S. Office of the Trade Representative said.
