Federal Circuit Rules For palmOne In Case Over Portable Devices

Law360 (January 7, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has given the final blow to NCR’s patent lawsuit against palmOne over technology rights to some uses of the popular Palm and Handspring handheld devices.

The appeals court upheld a ruling that palmOne’s products do not infringe on two NCR patents, leaving NCR little room to take its litigation efforts any further.

NCR had been appealing a district court ruling that had sided with PalmOne, a company formed from the merger of Palm and Handspring.
