Chilean Airline Drops Bid To Block LAN-TAM Merger

Law360, New York (October 25, 2011, 10:17 PM EDT) -- Chilean carrier PAL Airlines will drop its opposition to the planned merger of Chile's LAN Airlines SA and Brazil-based TAM SA because the requirements imposed by Chile's antitrust court adequately preserve competition, LAN said Tuesday.

LAN said that PAL agreed to end its challenge after determining that LAN and TAM's appeal to Chile's Supreme Court over conditions imposed by the Chilean Competition Tribunal, known as the TDLC, contained objections that "have only partial and minimal impacts on the mitigation measures imposed by the TDLC."
