Data Breaches At NHS Occur At Alarming Rate: Report

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 5:20 PM EDT) -- Employees at Britain's National Health Service have posted patient data on Facebook, looked up their work colleagues' medical records and committed an average of five data breaches weekly between 2008 and 2011, according to a study released Friday.

There were at least 806 occasions in which NHS employees compromised patients' medical records between July 2008 and July 2011, according to a report by civil liberties group Big Brother Watch. The group got the data through Freedom of Information requests sent to more than 420 NHS trusts,...
