Customs Misclassified Filter Co.'s Imports: CIT

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 6:43 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of International Trade on Monday ruled in favor of a filtration material company that said its imports were misclassified by the U.S. Customs Service and taxed excessively.

The CIT determined that Airflow Technology Inc.'s Sperifilt filtration material had been improperly classified by Customs as a self-contained filtration article and should therefore not be subject to the tariff rates assigned to these completed products.
