Transocean Slams BP 'Charade,' Demands Spill Coverage

Law360, New York (November 1, 2011, 7:56 PM EDT) -- Transocean Ltd. accused BP PLC in Louisiana federal court Tuesday of maintaining a “public charade” of itself as a good corporate citizen while failing to uphold its contractual obligations to defend and indemnify Transocean against damages associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Transocean filed a motion for partial summary judgment asking the court to compel BP to uphold mutual contractual indemnity promises to defend Transocean against environmental wellhead pollution claims. The dispute is part of sprawling multidistrict litigation stemming from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion....
