Doubt Cast On Anti-Depressant/Birth Defect Link

Law360, New York (June 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After years of concern over the effects of antidepressants in pregnant women, two new studies have claimed that the risk of having children with birth defects is relatively low for women who stay on the drugs, adding fuel to the debate.

On Wednesday, a pair of reports published in the New England Journal of Medicine indicated that although certain antidepressants can slightly raise the chance of birth defects, the total danger associated with these medications is minor.
