Pharma Tech Co. Targets Rival Over Tracking Device IP

Law360, New York (November 2, 2011, 4:22 PM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical technology company Fuisz Pharma LLC sued rival Theranos Inc. on Tuesday in Delaware federal court, alleging the biotech company violated a patent that helps medical professionals track patients' responses to treatments.

Fuisz Pharma's suit alleges that handheld devices manufactured by Theranos used to detect drug-induced changes to a patient's biomedical markers and communicate the results to medical personnel violate U.S. Patent No. 7,824,612. Fuisz Pharma seeks an injunction, damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees and a trial by jury.
