EU Lengthens Ban On Some Egyptian Seeds, Beans

Law360, San Diego (November 1, 2011, 9:00 PM EDT) -- The European Union has extended a ban on certain Egyptian seeds and beans that was initially imposed in July in the wake of deadly E. coli outbreaks in Europe, the U.K.’s Food Standards Agency revealed Tuesday.

The ban, which was set to expire at the end of October, was extended to March 31 after the European Commission found Egyptian authorities’ procedures for ensuring the safety of grain and plant exports were inefficient, the food agency said.
