GE Healthcare Sued Over "Toxic" Chemical Dye

Law360, New York (June 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Ohio man wants at least $350,000 in punitive damages from General Electric Co. in a case over an injected contrast agent he claims caused an incurable, possibly fatal illness.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Robert Murray alleges GE and its subsidiary GE Healthcare Inc. knew or should have known of the serious health risks to patients injected with Omniscan—a contrast agent used in magnetic resonance imaging and arteriography to help physicians identify lesions....
