Mitsubishi Runs Into Air Bag Switch Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 4, 2011, 4:30 PM EDT) -- An inventor on Thursday accused Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. in Arizona federal court of infringing a patent for a vehicle air bag pressure switch used to prevent injuries to child passengers.

All of Mitsubishi's vehicles infringe the patent held by inventor Joseph A. Fleming, said his counsel, Noah J. Van Amburg. Fleming's suit, which accuses Mitsubishi of “willful, bad faith and malicious appropriation,” seeks damages, fees, pre- and post-judgment interest, and an order enjoining Mitsubishi from further infringement.
