Examining AIA's High-Speed Inter Partes Review System

Law360, New York (November 15, 2011, 12:17 PM EST) -- The Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA) was signed into law by President Obama on Sept. 16, 2011. Starting in one year, on Sept. 16, 2012, the entire universe of existing U.S. patents[1] will suddenly be eligible for a new high-speed inter partes review system to resolve patent validity disputes under the AIA, which requires a conclusion in 18 months or less.
