EPA Reaches Deal With Enviros Over NM Coal Plant Permit

Law360, New York (November 10, 2011, 12:41 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Wednesday approved a settlement between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and WildEarth Guardians requiring the agency to act on the group’s petition to block an air pollution permit for an 1,800-megawatt coal power plant in New Mexico.

The EPA has until Nov. 15 to grant or deny WildEarth’s request that the agency object to a state-issued air pollution permit for the San Juan Generating Station, a large, high-polluting coal plant operated by the Public Service Co. of New Mexico.
